Career Talk
You, the employee
Hiring
you can be the smartest move anyone has ever made
or the largest headache. You're more likely than any
of the other employees to accept additional assignments
without complaining. You will be prepared to labour
until the wee hours for an exciting project. You are
constitutionally unable to keep to a tight and uniform
schedule, regardless of standard office procedure.
Your great, creative energy bursts upon you at all hours,
and it can't be adjusted to fit someone's idea of
the proper working day. One thing you can't stand is to turn in imperfect work. Money is never your
prime reason for working.
You take orders willingly from very few people, since
you do not believe in universal superiority. Few people
can equal you in bringing in new accounts, saving
customers who were hopelessly lost and putting over
the largest, most ambitious schemes that can be devised-especially
when you think you are heavily relied on to come through.
You will do well without the conventional rap on the
knuckles. You will be the first to apologise for errors
you've committed through your natural haste and impulsiveness,
if you're met halfway, and you'll sincerely try not
to repeat them. Criticism will never accomplish its
intended purpose with you. You have an uncanny ability
to understand today with clarity. Unless you are allowed
to promote, create and originate, you consider yourself
worthless. There are no special places where you thrive
best. The fields of advertising and public relations
attract you, since they give you a chance to promote
your talents.
You, the boss
You are not popular with lazy employees. If you suspect
that your employee is coasting, you will give him
a tongue-lashing, but a second, third or even fourth
chance.
You're not as susceptible to flattery as other astrological
signs, but you do look forward to a sincere compliment
from time to time. You will have contempt for an employee
who sings your praises just to score a few brownie
points. You are not ordinarily a good judge of character,
but you are sensitive to people's opinions. You're independent, daring and adventerous.
You are an initiator. You appreciate employees who
care enough about the company to make suggestions
and who are original in their thinking, as long as
they make it perfectly clear they have no intentions
of trying to outshine you. Will power is one of your
strong features. Your will is so fantastically strong
that you can go to the racetrack and practically root
your horse into the lead. Your employees had better
be prepared for plenty of excitement and chaos at
the workplace. You are definitely not lethargic, and
expect your employees also to be on their toes. In
spite of your great independent spirit, when your
idealistic, optimistic enthusiasm gets you in over your head, you really need help, faith and loyalty.
You, the colleague
You do battle for your independence! You like to think
you are boss, and you must decide early on as to where
you should draw the line. You will want to take the
lead, but if there is a little give-and take, you
can share a beautiful working relationship with all
your co-workers.
Careers and you
You are competitive and love the game, whether it's
business or life. You hate to lose, which means you
will probably win. You like being the leader - you
like to start projects and blaze the trail for colleagues.
You are considerate of your colleagues and display
enthusiasm and courage in the workplace. One thing
you crave is adventure. Preachy staff meetings are
a snore, since you would much rather be out in the
field closing a key client. New challenges need to
come at a fast and furious pace for you.
